The vision of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) is to become a World Class Revenue Service delivering Excellence in Revenue Collection, Border Protection, Trade and Travel Facilitation. The FRCS is a statutory organization established under the FRCS Act. Guided by the FRCS Act, the Service performs the following: acts as an agent of the State to provide services to administer and enforce the laws specified in the Act; advises the State on matters relating to taxation and customs; facilitates trade, travel and border protection; and represents the State internationally in respect of matters relating to taxation or customs.
We are looking for a suitable candidate for the Tax Officer and Cashier positions in FRCS based at our Head Office in Suva. To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
Tax Officer:
The role of the Tax Officer is to carry out a host of activities across the Taxation operations including:
- Registration, filing, requests and payments;
- Attending to customer enquiries in a timely manner through various means including face-to-face, telephone and emails;
- Facilitating and attending to taxpayer requests on TPOS;
- Resolving DMS/LEU cases, verifying and entering transfer journal requests;
- Preparing and collating data for taxpayer analysis; and
- Developing and maintaining a good relationship with the taxpayers in order to share and keep abreast with current laws, regulations and practices.
The essential requirements for this role are as follows:
- Diploma in Accounting or higher in a relevant discipline;
- Experience in the provision of administration work or assistance to business units;
- Good verbal and written communication skills; and
- Knowledge and experience of FRCS business and customer base.
Salary Band 4: $24,052 Base Salary
Cashier:
The role of the Cashier involves:
- Receipting of tax, customs and TELS payments using separate systems for payments made via counter and online banking;
- Issuing a manual receipt during any system downtime, for all payments remitted via cheque, cash or EFTPOS;
- Ensuring that all manual receipts are receipted on the system as soon as the system starts working and proper correspondences are to be forwarded to the relevant taxpayer;
- Ensuring that all payments are correctly receipted as per the narration provided by the taxpayer;
- Attending to telephone, counter and email enquiries; and
- Contributing to the efficient operations of revenue collection by accurately maintaining manual and computerized records, providing effective and timely customer service and providing support to
The essential requirements for this role are as follows:
- Diploma in either Accounting, Finance or Management from a recognized Institution;
- At least 3 years’ relevant experience; and
- Knowledge and experience of FRCS business and customer base.
Salary Band 3: $18,979 Base Salary
