The vision of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) is to become a World Class Revenue Service delivering Excellence in Revenue Collection, Border Protection, Trade and Travel Facilitation. The FRCS is a statutory organization established under the FRCS Act. Guided by the FRCS Act, the Service performs the following: acts as an agent of the State to provide services to administer and enforce the laws specified in the Act; advises the State on matters relating to taxation and customs; facilitates trade, travel and border protection; and represents the State internationally in respect of matters relating to taxation or customs. We are looking for a suitable candidate for the Economic Planning Officer position in FRCS based at our Head Office in Suva.
Reporting to the Deputy Director Policy, the position is responsible to provide support and coordination to the operations of the Policy Design and Monitoring Unit by development and provision of high quality advisory in Taxation and Customs focus areas, clear impact analysis of Taxation and Customs Laws, International Trade Agreements and Double Tax Agreements. The incumbent will also be responsible for drafting of cabinet papers and undertake discussions with legal and operations team with respect to legislative changes and its intent. Further responsibilities will include providing timely and accurate assessment pertaining to incentives available under the Income Tax Act and Income Tax Regulations and undertake liaison with government agencies such as Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
To be successful in this role, it is desirable that you have the following:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in economics or in related field.
• Relevant experience in economic analysis and policy work.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Band 5: $30,230 Base Salary
