Korean Customs Week 2023

FRCS CEO Mr. Mark Dixon and the Chief Customs Officer Mr. Arvind Prasad attended the Korean Customs Week 2023 held in Seoul, Korea in April. Amid the unprecedented challenges facing the global economy, a reinforced global partnership is growing with the focus on the importance of the trade facilitation and the security of the global community.

Against this backdrop, the Korean Customs Service hosted the Customs Week to share the best practices and discuss issues on common interests for the international Customs community under the theme of “Global Customs Cooperation and Digital Customs”.

The event fostered international Customs collaboration featuring a roundtable discussion where Heads of Customs gathered and deliberated the present and the future of Customs. Furthermore, expert seminars were organised where views, insights and best practices on the innovative issues were shared.

Additionally, Customs Heads also held bilateral and multilateral discussions. FRCS was also part of the 17 Asian Pacific countries to sign the Joint Statement on Customs Cooperation for Narcotics Control in Asia and the Pacific Region to combat and safeguard the region from illegal drug operations. The event provided an excellent opportunity for FRCS to share with the other delegates our journey to customs automation and the benefits of digitalization.
