FRCS CEO Resignation Announcement
Today, the Board of Fiji Revenue & Customs Service (FRCS) announced the resignation of Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Visvanath Das. Visvanath joined the Inland Revenue Service in July 1996. His extensive experience in FRCS has been in Audit for over 15 years before he became National Manager Debt, General Manager Taxation prior to being appointed as acting CEO and confirmed CEO in October 2016.
During his tenure, he has provided valuable leadership to the Senior Executive team and their teams, while expanding the organizational contribution to regional and international bodies such as Pacific Islands Tax Administrations Association (PITAA), Oceania Customs Organization (OCO), World Customs Organization (WCO) and Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrations (CATA).
FRCS has made many notable strategic achievements under his leadership with the most significant being a shift to a “One Organization, One Team and One Service Approach” and implementation of automation and systems to improve efficiency and revenue collection.
Mr. Das has resigned for personal reasons and to explore new frontiers in his career. The Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Ms. Fay Yee on behalf of the Board expressed her appreciation to Visvanath and his contributions to FRCS and wished him every success for his future.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of Fiji over the last 23 years, and I wish to thank the Government, Board, Industry, international partners and my team within the organization for entrusting me with the responsibility of CEO for the last 4 years, a role which I have served with my utmost integrity and dedication,” emphasized outgoing CEO Mr. Das.
The Board has also announced the appointment of Director Corporate Services, Ms. Fane Vave as Interim Acting CEO, while the Board commences the process of identifying a suitable candidate to succeed Mr. Das as the Chief Executive Officer.
