The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority (FIRCA) wishes to advise the general public that it is committed to the highest possible standards of integrity, openness, professionalism and accountability and  in line with this commitment and Good Corporate Governance practice, employees and all stakeholders (internal and external) can come forward and confidentially report/disclose any fraudulent acts, unethical behaviour, breaches of FIRCA Legislation, Regulations and Policies committed by a FIRCA Staff, member of Management or Board of Directors.

 

10 – CEO Appointment

The Board of the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority (FIRCA) is pleased to announce the renewal of Mr. Jitoko Tikolevu’s contract for the position of Chief Executive Officer of FIRCA effective from November 8, 2010. He will continue to be the Commissioner of Inland Revenue and Comptroller of Customs.

 

9 – FIRCA IPR Campaign

8 – FIRCA Imposter

The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority (FIRCA) wishes to advise the general public to first check identification cards of FIRCA officials visiting their premises to conduct door to door exercise.

 

7 – Customs Seize Container Goods

Customs Officers have seized a container of bottled substances at Lautoka Port suspected to contain a controlled substance under the Illicit Drugs Act.

 

6 – Savusavu Office 2

The Fiji Islands Revenue & Customs Authority (FIRCA) will be opening its new Savusavu office on Wednesday, 9th June 2010 at 8.45am. The Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Commodore Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama will officially open
the new Savusavu Revenue & Customs Services Centre. The Centre is located at Lot 17 Nakama, Savusavu.

 

5 – Early Processing of Income Tax Returns

FIRCA wishes to advise all Salary and Wage Earning Employees (Form S) in the Northern and Eastern Divisions that have been affected by the recent hurricane Tomas, that special arrangement have been made for the early processing of the
Salary/Wage Income Tax Returns.

 

4 – Kyoto Convention

The Republic of Fiji’s Ambassador to Brussels and former FIRCA Board Chairman, Mr. Peceli Vocea has deposited Fiji’s Instrument for Ratification for accession to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (revised Kyoto Convention) with the World Customs Organization (WCO) on 26th January 2010. Fiji is now the 66th country to accede to the Convention.

2 – FIRCA Prepares to Implement Tourist VAT Refund Scheme

In the 2010 Budget, the Prime Minister and Minister for Finance announced the introduction of a Tourist VAT Refund Scheme (TVRS), which will become effective from 1st February, 2009. This government initiative will allow tourists to claim a refund (subject to certain conditions) on the VAT that they pay on goods purchased in Fiji.
